Divina Mirpuri, of Ballerina Jewelers, said they are firmly in support of sponsoring events like this. “My philosophy on competitive swimming is simple,” stated Mirpuri. “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. Swimming gives these kids a sense of purpose. When you feel you can’t swim any faster, hold your breath any longer, kick any harder, you must keep going. Greatness is only milliseconds away, and you must maintain 100% effort for the entire race. Swimming trains you to think positively and believe in yourself. With practice and effort, success is guaranteed, and this is such an important life lesson that these kids receive from being in a swim program.”
On February 26, competitive swimming returns to the Carib Swim Team pool for the annual Caribbean Gems Elementary Schools Meet.
