MARIGOT—Bodybuilding and Fitness Association of St. Martin’s (BFASM) top Bikini champion Elvina Matthew placed ninth out of seventeen athletes in her category at this past weekend’s Arnold's Sports Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
“Elvina was fabulous,” reported BFASM President and Coach Francois Carty. “It was an unforgettable experience at the Arnold Sports Festival for Team Saint Martin. Our local champion had to fight her way through some 17 well seasoned and regular athletes at this level of competition and came up short of making it to the final top six. But it was such a proud feeling when St. Martin’s name was mentioned on stage for the very first time `number 527 From French Saint Martin, Josephine Matthew’."
Carty noted he was very pleased with the outcome of the hard work hard put in for this event.
“Comparing Elvina’s physique with the winners we are very close to our objective. We now heading back to the drawing board to get ready for the next event in Mexico. This time we will be going with a bigger team in various categories.”
He added: “It is always an honour to showcase our Island when given the opportunity. We have what it takes, we just need the right tools and support.
