Earthquakes rattle Haiti and Trinidad

PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti--There were no reports of death or injury either after Haiti was rattled by a 4.4-magnitude earthquake, or when a 4.0 tremor was recorded off Trinidad and Tobago Saturday.

The Haiti quake occurred around 1:00pm local time, about five kilometres (km) north of Les Anglais, 51km northwest of Les Cayes and 35km southwest of Jérémie and was also felt in the capital Port-au-Prince.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck at a depth of 12.3km.

Later in the day, around 4:57pm, a 4.0-magnitude tremor was recorded 86km west-northwest of Trinidad and Tobago’s capital Port of Spain, 111km west-northwest of Arima and the same distance east-northeast of Carúpano, Venezuela. ~ Caribbean360 ~
