From the reaction that I personally got in connection with the letter that I wrote to you concerning the 60 odd government vehicles with dark tint one would think that the use of dark tint is a crime.
What I know as a driver is that it is a hindrance to those of us who would like to adhere to the traffic rules, which seemingly government does not respect. The word is adhoc. I dare declare that there is nowhere in the traffic in Sint Maarten where the curves and and corners permits drivers of motor vehicles to drive more than 60 meters before having to use the footbrakes.
That is the reason why I constantly ask myself when I notice the irresponsible behaviour of drivers" Where are they going?" At the risk of being ridiculed and for the sake of safety in traffic , .I must add that the lady drivers are not to be outdone by the men.
What I definitely know about motor vehicles with all the windows as well as the windshield covered with dark tinted glass all over, is that there is no visible communication possible with other motor vehicles and those drivers literally do what they want whether they have the right of way or not.
And I will repeat All of this to go where? But I began this letter because of the reaction that I got in response to my letter concerning the Prime Minister going along with the black tint on 60 odd government vehicles.
One of the comments which to me is valid is that the government is showing it's colours and that the money used to put illegal tint on more than sixty government vehicles could have been used to maintain and repair the police cars.
One thing I know has always lingered by me is with the incept of the computor net, what would happen to the government couriers. It seems as if they have been replaced by motorvehicles.
One observation that was made was, how many hours in a working day are the various government vehicles used? When I take these observation into consideration, I am inclined to go along with the thought.
I have never used any kind of tint on the glasses of anyone of my motorvehicles, so I cannot engage in anything concerning the finances where it concerns black tint. But I was told that persons who tint cars live comfortable financially.
