Zoo animals stolen, safe home sought for remainder

Current conditions at St. Maarten Zoo

MADAME ESTATE--What monster Hurricane Irma didn’t take from St. Maarten Zoo, unscrupulous persons did.  A number of the zoo’s animals were stolen in the aftermath of the storm.

Foster homes and kennels, cages, large tanks and containers are sought from the public to secure the remaining animals. Still seeking foster homes are snakes, large birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, geese, large black bird, capuchin monkeys, and vervet monkeys.

Other zoos in the surrounding islands will eventually take the animals into their care.

To help the zoo and its animals, contact Barbara Cannegieter, Mélanie Choisy or Jovan Sancho Pancho Halley via Facebook.
