This wooden guardrail on Suckergarden road near the pump-house has been incomplete for an extensive period of time, and The Daily Herald has heard numerous concerns by drivers recently. It is reminiscent of two accidents involving similar situations, one of which proved fatal after a car lost control, hit the protruding guardrail and the driver was struck in his chest after it penetrated the car via the headlight and engine bay, thrusting into the cabin of the car. The brunt was strong enough to push his body into the back seat. In another instance a few years ago, the protruding guardrail broke through the windshield of a car forced off the road by another driver, and it narrowly missed the driver and passenger.
