Woman arrested with false travel document

AIRPORT--Members of the Alpha Team on Saturday, September 15, arrested a woman who arrived in St. Maarten from Guadeloupe with a false passport.

Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said the woman identified with initials S.M.W.R. is originally from the Dominican Republic. She arrived in St. Maarten on Saturday afternoon. While at a checkpoint, a customs officer attached to the Alpha Team realised that the passport from the Dominican Republic belonging to R. had been fraudulently tampered with. R. was immediately arrested and taken to the main police station in Philipsburg where she remains in police custody for questioning and further investigation.
