UPDATE: Supermarket robbed at gunpoint Thursday

Police investigating the armed robbery in Dutch Quarter on Thursday evening.

DUTCH QUARTER--Wing Da Supermarket on Nazareth Road in Dutch Quarter fell victim to an armed robbery early Thursday evening.

According to police, two young men dressed in black entered the establishment with at least one firearm. They then demanded cash from the cashier.

After taking an undisclosed amount, the robbers fled on foot, disappearing into the dark behind the supermarket.

The investigation in this robbery is ongoing, said police Thursday night.

When asked whether this robbery has connections with previous robberies, acting police spokesperson Ethelwoldus Josepha said it is still too early in the investigation to confirm this.

A Chinese restaurant on Union Road in Cole Bay was also the victim of an armed robbery last week. In this robbery, two young men dressed in black pants, shoes and hoodies entered the establishment brandishing a firearm and proceeded to rob the cashier. After the robbery the suspects escaped on foot, fleeing into the dark behind the restaurant.
