Two stabbed after Last Lap Jump-Up

PHILIPSBURG--The end of Carnival 50’s closing jump-up was marred by the separate stabbings of two persons after the Last Lap Jump-Up arrived at Carnival Village on Tuesday evening.

One of the persons was stabbed in the stomach and the other was stabbed in the back. Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a police press release on Thursday that both victims were stabbed with either a knife or another pointed object.

Both victims were treated on the scene and then transported to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC). They were both operated on and were admitted for observation.

The Detective Department is presently investigating the two separate cases of ill-treatment with a weapon.
