Two separate collisions on Welfare Road in the early morning hours. Two injured and no fatalities, with the investigation still ongoing.
COLE BAY--Two people sustained minor injuries in two separate traffic accidents at the intersection of Welfare Road and Winsor Road in the early hours of Saturday morning. The accident occurred at about 2:30am on August 29, with both incidents taking place at the same intersection within a short period of time.
In the first accident, a red Suzuki Swift was travelling along Welfare Road from the direction of Wellington Road towards the Kruythoff Roundabout when a Toyota Land Cruiser entered the roadway from Winsor Road. The two vehicles collided, causing the Suzuki Swift to be pushed sideways before it struck a Toyota Sienna that was parked along the left side of the road.
Shortly afterwards, a second collision occurred at the same intersection involving a Ford Edge and a Kia Sportage. The Ford Edge was travelling along Welfare Road towards the Kruythoff Roundabout when the Kia Sportage entered Welfare Road from Winsor Road, intending to continue towards Cashew Tree Road.

The front of the Ford Edge collided with the left rear side of the Kia Sportage. The impact caused the driver of the Ford Edge to lose control. The Ford Edge continued forward and struck a GEBE streetlight pole before subsequently colliding with the concrete wall of a used-car company.
Police officers conducted investigations at both accident scenes. The circumstances surrounding the two collisions remain under investigation. KPSM is reminding motorists and other road users to exercise caution, particularly during the early morning hours, and to comply with traffic laws and regulations.
