Two injured in car crash

The crash on Saturday evening.

PHILIPSBURG--Two vehicles were involved in a car crash on Walter Nisbeth Road at 11:20pm Saturday. One driver was making a left turn and did not give right-of-way to the oncoming vehicle heading toward the Salt Pickers Roundabout. This caused the vehicles to collide head-on towards the sidewalk.

The Police Traffic Department was on hand and called Ambulance and Fire Department officials to assist in taking out one of the victims who was stuck in his vehicle. Firemen used the jaws-of-life to cut open the vehicle and remove the victim. He was transported to the St. Maarten Medical Centre Emergency Room for further treatment.

Police said the occupants of one vehicle complained of pain in the neck and the driver of the other vehicle suffered a broken right leg. Both vehicles had severe damage.
