Police started on Tuesday the execution of one of several projects planned for this period. According to a press statement, this project will include traffic stops; handing out of fines for traffic violations; and increase in vehicle, bicycle and foot patrols in Philipsburg and other areas tourists frequently visit. There will be controls on illegal drugs and weapons at different locations on the island. Police presence was definitely noticeable on Tuesday. These checks will continue indefinitely, according to police.
