Tourist couple robbed of valuables at Fort Louis

MARIGOT--A tourist couple was robbed of their valuables at Fort Louis on Sunday around 10:00am the Gendarmerie disclosed.

The sole perpetrator, who was not masked, threatened the tourists with a weapon, stole cell phones, money, credit cards and other documents, including ID cards, and escaped on foot, Capitaine Emmanuel Maignan said.

On Friday at 6:00pm, a chain-snatching incident occurred in the Agrément and Concordia area, when a man walking along the road had his gold neck chain stolen at gunpoint.

Maignan said this appeared to be an isolated incident, as there has not been a spate of chain-snatching for quite some time.

The two incidents are under investigation.
