Time out for AIDS

A ceremony for World AIDS Day 2018 was held at Gwendoline van Putten School in St. Eustatius on Friday. Students, parents, teachers, school management, board members, principal Rosalie Edelstein-Lopes and STI/AIDS Coordinator Shanna Mercera-Gibbs turned out for the event. Even though it was a rainy morning, many students came out in red shirts. This year’s AIDS Day slogan is: “Know Your status” to encourage persons to know their HIV/AIDS status. A special programme was done by students of various classes, which include a skit, poems and songs. Information on HIV/AIDS was also provided. The ceremony ended with a motivational speech by principal Edelstein.
