Fete de la Cuisine Foundation hosted a “thank you and farewell” party on Sunday for Dutch military personnel of the 101 CBRN Defence Brigade under the command of Major Maarten Zomers. The military personnel spent six weeks in the country assisting with recovery efforts following Hurricane Irma. They worked on repairing the Airport radar to allow emergency flights to access the country. They also repaired roofs of the hospital, pharmacies and schools. Foundation President Henri Brookson with Charlotte Brookson Academy for Performing Arts students and teachers and entertainer Mighty Dow gave the “angels in green” a taste of Caribbean culture as well as dishes from Surinamese and American cuisine. T-shirts with the text “SXM loves me” were given as tokens of appreciation.
