SXM DOET begins projects

PHILIPSBURG--Be The Change Foundation in collaboration with the Oranje Fonds will be hosting St. Maarten’s second annual national volunteer initiative, SXM DOET starting March 11. Thirty projects were completed last year with the help of more than 900 volunteers. SXM DOET is aiming for an even bigger turnout this year.

So far, more than 35 foundations, clubs and schools throughout St. Maarten have signed up to complete various projects and odd jobs. They could not do this without the generous assistance of the community.

National Institute of Arts (NIA) will be participating in SXM DOET with NIA Productions Black Box Theatre Project. The goal is to equip, enhance and beautify the current performing space known as Black Box Theatre located at John Larmonie Centre, Long Wall Road 20, to better cater to the needs and comfort of the performers and audience.

The desired result is to have an actual black-painted theatre space with stages and risers, sound and lights, shelving and a renewed wooden floor suitable for all performers. NIA looks forward to any possible assistance from the community.

SXM DOET will be all over Dutch St. Maarten conducting different projects for a number of organisations.
