COLE BAY--A sub-contractor working in the Cole Bay area on Sunday damaged a TelEm Group underground cable, causing interruptions in voice and data services to business and residential customers.

TelEm Group says contractors were onsite and in the field Monday repairing the damaged cable, and will reconnect customers as soon as possible.

Outside Plant Interim Manager Steve Simmons said TelEm Group customers on Orange Grove Road, Wellington Road and part of Waterfront Road were affected by the damaged cable.

Simmons apologised for any inconvenience caused by the interruption in service, which was beyond the company’s control. He said technicians and engineers in the field will continue to work until all customers have service resumed by the end of the day Monday.
