Statia’s public library shows support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

 ST. EUSTATIUS--Gertrude Judson Bicentennial Public Library in St. Eustatius showed support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On Fridays, persons in Statia’s community are asked to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Month, and library staff members are heeding the call.

A donation box was also set up at the library for visitors to make a contribution to Golden Rock Cancer Awareness Foundation.

Cancer Awareness Frames are not only on display at the library, but also at the office of St. Eustatius Utility Company (STUCO), GEM Enterprises and other locations around the island.

Other activities planned for Breast Cancer Awareness Month include a social evening at Elrine Lesley Methodist Auditorium on Thursday, October 19, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

Breast examinations are being conducted at Queen Beatrix Medical Centre on Friday, October 19, and Thursday, October 25, 2:00pm-4:00pm.

A Breast Cancer Benefit Gala Dinner and Dance hosted by Blue Island Gem Events is slated to be held at Lion’s Den on Saturday, October 27, starting at 7:00pm.

A Walk for a Cure Walkathon will round out Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Wednesday, October 31.
