    Statia patient on medevac flight tested negative for coronavirus

  1. EUSTATIUS--The person who was flown to St. Maarten Medical Center on a medevac helicopter from F.D. Roosevelt Airport in St. Eustatius around 1:00am Tuesday is not suffering from COVID-19.

When the patient arrived in St. Maarten, rumours started circulating that the person was suspected of having COVID-19. Persons in Statia who had been in contact with the patient also became alarmed about the rumour and started to enquire about his COVID-19 status.

The patient in question was tested for COVID-19 and awaiting the test results. On Tuesday afternoon, the tests results for this person proved to be negative. The news about the negative test results brought great relief to residents of Statia, as tracing from the patient in question would have encompassed a wide range of persons.
