Statia harbour, airport opened

ST. EUSTATIUS--Franklin Delano Roosevelt Airport and Charles A. Woodley Harbour are opened for business on St. Eustatius. Telecommunication is up to about 80 per cent. Electricity is to full capacity.

The status of flights from Windward Islands Airways International Winair via St. Maarten is still to be verified, said Tourism Director Charles Lindo.
St. Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation (STDF) will keep the community informed about future events, including the Statia Sustainability Conference (SSC), for which air link via St. Maarten is vital. Concrete information about the conference should be available in the coming days.
“We are monitoring weather conditions together with the disaster committee and the Caribbean Tourism Organization,” said Charles.
The tourism bureau sustained some minor damage may be closed on certain dates. Regular office numbers are operational and are manned during working hours.
Lindo extend sympathy to those who have lost family or friends due to the hurricane.
Irma caused no casualties on Statia.
