State secretaries in Statia

Dutch State Secretary of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops and State Secretary of Social Affairs and Employment Tamara van Ark paid a working visit to St. Eustatius on Tuesday.

They were met at F.D. Roosevelt Airport by Government Commissioners Marcolino “Mike” Franco and Mervyn Stegers. Knops and Van Ark visited several projects and locations on the island on separate bus tours. Explanations were given about cliff erosion, the coastline upgrade project, the road to Jeems project. Stops were made at the waste management plant where plant manager Jeffrey Lewis guided the tour. The airport erosion site next to the solar park was also a stop. There, the project manager gave an update. Van Ark visited residents with critical needs and other social-related locations.
