PHILIPSBURG--Faith Peterson is showcasing her talent on Dutch national television while pursuing a professional career in the performing arts at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts in the Netherlands.
The 23-year-old performer, who was born and raised on St. Maarten, is currently in her third year at the institute, where she studies Musical Theatre Dance.
Peterson began dancing at the age of four with Motiance Dance School and NIA. What started as a childhood passion has developed into a professional journey in dance, singing and acting.
In recent months, Peterson has appeared on the Dutch television programme Stars on Stage, where audiences have seen her perform as both a dancer and singer. Her weekly appearances have gained attention from viewers in the Netherlands as well as supporters in St. Maarten.
Despite her growing presence abroad, Peterson said she remains proud of her St. Maarten roots. “I am proud to represent St. Maarten,” she said. “I want the world to see that there is so much talent on our island, and that talent deserves to be seen on stages and screens around the world.”
Peterson’s journey highlights the opportunities available to young people from St. Maarten who want to pursue careers in the arts. Through years of training, dedication and perseverance, she has continued developing her skills and performing on international stages.
Peterson hopes to build a career in Dutch musical theatre, combining her interests in singing, dancing and acting on professional stages in the Netherlands and beyond.
As she continues her development as a performer, Peterson remains connected to her home island while representing St. Maarten abroad.
