SYNOPSIS:
The dominant Atlantic high pressure ridge will maintain a dry and stable air mass across the region for the next several days. As a result, no significant precipitation is expected. However, low level moisture drifting with the trade winds could trigger brief local showers.
Easterly swells will generate moderate sea conditions today. Small craft operators should exercise caution. Thereafter, seas are forecast to remain slight for the next few days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 3 to 6 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE:
At 11am, Tropical Storm Julia was located over northeastern Florida. This system is moving towards the north northeast and does not pose a threat to St. Maarten.
At 11am, Tropical Storm Ian was moving toward the north over the Central Atlantic. This system does not pose a threat to St. Maarten.
At 11 am, an area of low pressure, associated with a tropical wave, located near the Cabo Verde Islands was upgraded to Tropical Depression Twelve. Conditions are favourable for it to become a tropical storm tonight.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will monitor the progress of these systems.
