SURFACE WINDS:
This afternoon through Thursday midday: Northeast to Southeast with a gentle to moderate breeze of 08 to 16 miles per hour.
SYNOPSIS:
Moderate to brisk winds will persist across the Caribbean due to a strong Atlantic high-pressure ridge. The presence of Saharan dust will aid in limiting precipitation and produce hazy skies. Nevertheless, patches of moisture transported by the wind flow may produce some brief passing showers across the local area, particularly during the overnight and early morning hours. Additionally, persons with allergies and/or respiratory illnesses should take the necessary precautions.
Sea conditions are expected to remain slight to moderate for the next few days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: Looking ahead to Sunday, a tropical wave (Invest 95) has a 30% formation chance over the next 2 to 5 days. Model guidance is indicating that as it approaches the Lesser Antilles conditions will not be conducive for development and should pass the islands as an open wave. MDS will continue to monitor this feature and inform the public accordingly.
OUTLOOK through Friday midday: Fair to partly cloudy, hazy and breezy with a passing shower possible.
