St. Maarten Day event in Amsterdam Saturday

AMSTERDAM--At least 200 St. Maarteners are expected at the St. Maarten Day celebration in Amsterdam this Saturday. All proceeds will go towards Rebuild SXM Foundation and Sunshine Foundation in aid of reconstructing the island after Hurricane Irma.

  A varied programme composed by organiser Kyle “DJ SPY” Brown and his team awaits the audience at Amsterdam’s Sugar Factory. There will be speeches, live performances, dance, music, song and food during the 3½-hour event.

  The audience will be treated to music by DJ Bean, DJ Vlaun and DJ SPY, song by Chanti, gospel reggae by LM Fi dem, R&B songs by Jevon and a performance by zouk/kompa artist Patrick Graham. introduced by Masters of Ceremonies Richy Stylez, EZ-D and Big-Mike.

  The programme will feature three main speakers: St. Maarten Minister Plenipotentiary Henrietta Doran-York; Debby Thomas, who will speak about medical support for St. Maarten; and Cyriel Pfennings of Rebuild SXM, who will talk about the foundation’s objectives to assist the island in the reconstruction period.

  Earlynna “Hiccups” George will sing the St. Maarten Anthem and Ludwina Hodge will take care of the spiritual part with a prayer.
