SSC postponed due to Irma’s aftermath

ST. EUSTATIUS--The sixth annual Statia Sustainability Conference (SSC) on St. Eustatius is postponed until further notice. The conference was slated for September 26-27.

The conference committee decided on Wednesday to reschedule due to the aftermath of monster Hurricane Irma.

Tourism Director Charles Lindo said due to the situation on devastated St. Maarten, flights into Statia were impacted by the status of the airport there. St. Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation (STDF) will keep the community informed about the upcoming plans and preparations.

A lot of trees were knocked down and a number of residents lost their roofs in the hurricane.
