Tropical Storm warning  issued for St. Maarten

PHILIPSBURG--The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten (MDS) announced that St. Maarten is under a tropical storm warning as of 11:00am today, Tuesday.

  The potential tropical cyclone in the Atlantic ocean is packing 40 miles per hour (mph) winds but has yet to develop a well-defined low level circulation. When the cyclone does, it will be upgraded to a tropical storm. 

  The system is likely to become a tropical storm later today or early Wednesday. The next named storm on the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season name list is Isaias. 

  It is forecast to affect the northern Lesser Antilles on Wednesday or Wednesday night. 

  Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs, National Disaster Coordinator Clive Richardson, and Head of MDS Isaac Joseph will host a national address today at 1:00pm to discuss the latest development. This can be seen on government Facebook page or by tuning into St. Maarten GOV radio 107.9FM.
