Sky High Airlines returns to Statia for holiday season

Passengers boarding the Sky High Airlines aircraft at F.D. Roosevelt Airport on Tuesday morning.

ST. EUSTATIUS--Sky High Airlines touched down at F.D. Roosevelt Airport at 10:45am Tuesday. Twenty passengers were waiting to board the flight to travel to Santo Domingo for the holiday season.

The chartered flight, organised by Blue Bead Airways, took off at 11:16am.

The first time the airline touched down on St. Eustatius was after the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017, which left the island isolated, making it more or less dependent on small aircraft operators and on Coast Guard and military aircraft.

Sky High Airlines mostly carries out chartered flights to and from Statia. Another chartered flight is scheduled for Saturday, December 22.
