Sixty more days for Jamaloodin

WILLEMSTAD--The pre-trial detention of former Curaçao Finance Minister for MFK George “Jorge” Jamaloodin was extended for a maximum 60 days by the Judge of Instruction on request of the Prosecutor’s Office.

A separate petition by lawyers to suspend their client’s custody was denied. The court saw enough serious objections to the suspect’s release.

Jamaloodin is believed to have arranged and paid for the murder of then PS-leader Helmin Magno Wiels on May 5, 2013, in the so-called “Maximus” investigation. The then Member of Parliament (MP) was shot dead by already convicted hired killers including triggerman Elvis “Monster” Kuwas, who received a life sentence in the “Magnus” case.
