Schotte to court over prison visits

WILLEMSTAD--Not only a group of 14 inmates at Curaçao’s “Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Korsou” (SDKK) but also MFK-leader Gerrit Schotte, currently serving a sentence for accepting a bribe, forgery and money laundering, is filing a case against the government of Curaçao, be it for other reasons,

While the 14 detainees complain of poor conditions inside the penitentiary and the quality of the food, the former prime minister wants to hold business meetings in prison. However, management refuses to give him permission for such, stating that this is an unknown practice and against the rules.

Prisoners may only receive an hour's visit once every two weeks.
