Rotary spreads Christmas cheer with foster children

MARY FANCY--Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset members gathered at New Start for Children Foundation and were welcomed by 21 smiling faces filled with joy and amazement when they saw dozens of Christmas presents coming their way on Saturday morning.

Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset received a generous donation of toys and educational supplies from friends of Rotary who wanted to spread the joy of giving this Christmas season. New Start for Children Foundation was selected because of the couple’s tireless efforts in opening their home and providing care to numerous children in need.

New Start for Children Foundation was established by Sally Benjamin and her husband Edward Benjamin in efforts to help care for children in need. The Benjamins have been foster parents for more than 30 years and together have taken care of countless children with support of government and many charitable organisations on the island.

“Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset is committed to improving the lives of children in our community and we wanted to spread some Christmas cheer to children who are less fortunate. We wanted them to feel special and loved for this Christmas season and, most importantly, we wanted to show our appreciation to Mrs. Sally and her husband for their tireless efforts,” said Sunset President Jaida Nisbett.

Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset wishes the Benjamins and the children currently in their care a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
