This afternoon through tonight: Partly cloudy, becoming cloudy at times with isolated showers and slight chance of thunder.  

Wednesday: Partly cloudy with isolated showers possible.

SURFACE WINDS: 
This afternoon through Wednesday midday: Easterly with a light to gentle breeze of 06 to 12 mph.  

    

SYNOPSIS:     

Lingering moisture associated with a recent weak tropical wave will result in cloudy periods and possible isolated showers, mainly during the early part of this forecast period. Some of these showers may be associated with thunder. Caution is advised during outdoor activity.  

Seas will remain slight to moderate during the next few days.  

   

STATE OF THE SEA:  Slight to moderate       
WAVES/SWELLS: 3 to 6 feet   

    

SPECIAL FEATURE:   

As of 11:00am, Tropical Storm Paulette was located about 1300 miles east of St. Maarten. On its current path, this system is expected to pass north of the island towards the end of the week and not expected to pose a direct threat to St. Maarten.  

 
Tropical Storm Rene was located about 2100 miles east-southeast of St. Maarten.
It is expected to become a hurricane in the next day or two. However, Tropical Storm Rene is not expected to pose a threat to St. Maarten.  

 

THE METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF ST. MAARTEN WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THESE SYSTEMS AND UPDATE THE PUBLIC ACCORDINGLY.  

   

 

OUTLOOK through Thursday midday: Partly cloudy with isolated showers possible.
