SPECIAL FEATURE:

At 11:00 am, the center of Tropical Storm Josephine was located about 570 miles east of St. Maarten. Josephine is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph. On the forecast track Josephine will make its closest approach at approximately 150 miles north of St. Maarten, late Saturday into Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles, mainly to the north of the center.

Though Josephine does not pose a direct threat to St Maarten. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible due to outer rainbands and unstable atmospheric conditions produced by the storm.

THE METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF ST. MAARTEN WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS SYSTEM AND UPDATE THE PUBLIC.
