SYNOPSIS:
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated showers, some of which could be moderate to heavy and a chance of isolated thunderstorms are expected during this forecast period. This is due to an unstable atmosphere, caused by a trough located just south of the local area, available moisture, light winds and daytime heating.
As previously mentioned, the proximity of the trough will result in a loose pressure gradient which will maintain mostly light winds across the region at least through Monday.
Seas are expected to remain slight for the next few days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight WAVES/SWELLS: 2 to 4 feet
SPECIAL FEATURES: Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues to move away and poses no threat to St Maarten.
A broad area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms several hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands. Some slow development of this system is possible during the next several days while the low moves westward across the central tropical Atlantic Ocean.
Formation chance through the next two to five days is 10 to 40 percent.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of this system and update the public accordingly.
OUTLOOK through Tuesday midday: Partly cloudy with isolated showers possible.
