WEATHER:  

This afternoon through tonight: Mainly cloudy to overcast and breezy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Tuesday morning through midday: Cloudy and breezy with isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms.

SURFACE WINDS:  This afternoon through Tuesday midday: East-northeast to southeast with a moderate to fresh breeze of 13 to 20 miles per hour and higher gusts.

 

SYNOPSIS:  

Abundant moisture and instability associated with an active tropical wave will continue to influence inclement weather across the local area. Heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms will prolong flooding in low-lying areas as well as rock falls/landslides along hillsides. Residents and users of areas prone to flooding and landslides are advised to be vigilant and/or avoid these areas whenever possible. A heavy rainfall advisory is in effect issued for St. Maarten until this evening.

Moderate marine conditions will prevail for the next few days, with wave heights up to 7 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.

 

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate       WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 7 feet
