SYNOPSIS:
A weak tropical wave is currently passing through the southeastern Caribbean, and is increasing moisture over the local region. As such, brief local showers are possible during this forecast period.
Moderate conditions, peaking near 7 feet, are expected for the next couple of days. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 7 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE:
At 11:00 AM, the center of Tropical Depression Four was located near latitude 13.2 North, longitude 42.6 West. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 21 mph (33 km/h). A continued west-northwestward motion with an additional increase in forward speed is expected over the next 48 hours.
Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is not currently expected to become a tropical storm.
This system does not currently pose a threat to St Maarten and will continue to be monitored by the Meteorological Department of St Maarten (MDS).
