Tonight through Sunday midday: Partly cloudy at first, becoming increasingly cloudy and windy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

SURFACE WINDS: 
Today: East-southeasterly to easterly with a moderate to fresh breeze of 13 to 18 mph, and higher gusts possible. 

Tonight through Sunday midday: East-southeasterly to northeasterly with a fresh breeze to gale force of 20 to 45 mph, and higher gusts possible in and around showers. 

  

SYNOPSIS:   

Moisture and instability associated with Tropical Storm Grace will cause an increase in clouds, winds, and thunderstorms through the latter part of this forecast period. Motorists and persons utilizing low-lying areas should remain vigilant for street-flooding and rock-falls along hillsides.
Seas are expected to peak at 9 feet with the arrival of Tropical Storm Grace; therefore, a small craft advisory is now in effect. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.  

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to rough        
WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 9 feet  

   

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
…TROPICAL STORM GRACE A LITTLE STRONGER…  

At 11:00am, the center of Tropical Storm Grace was located about 365 miles east-southeast of St. Maarten. Grace is moving toward the west near 23 mph (37 km/h) with maximum sustained winds near 45 mph and higher gusts. On the forecast track, the center of this system is expected to pass approximately 45 miles south of St. Maarten early Sunday. Some strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days. 

Impacts to St. Maarten are expected tonight through Sunday with heavy rainfall up to 6 inches, thunderstorms, and winds near 45mph and possibly higher. 

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of this system and update the public accordingly.  

OUTLOOK through Monday midday: Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated showers and isolated thunder possible.
