*This afternoon through Wednesday midday: North northeast to east with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 10 miles per hour, becoming variable and calm at times.*SYNOPSIS:
*A weak high pressure system is generating light winds and pushing some dry and stable air across the local area today. However, weak instability and low level moisture embedded in the trade winds will account for cloudy periods and isolated showers during this forecast period.Moderate seas with waves peaking near 6 feet can be expected during the next 24 to 48 hours. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.*STATE OF THE SEA:* Slight to moderate *WAVES/SWELLS:* 3 to 6 feet*SPECIAL FEATURES:*
At 11 am, Tropical Storm Karl was located about 512 miles east northeast of St. Maarten. Karl is moving toward the west near 17 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. This system is forecast to pass north of the Lesser Antilles tomorrow. Nevertheless, spiral bands and induced instability could generate cloudiness and an increase in shower activity, with a risk of thunder across the local area. Residents are advised to keep updated on its progress.
Over the eastern tropical Atlantic, Tropical Depression 13 has been upgraded to Tropical storm Lisa. This system is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph and additional strengthening is expected during the next 48 hours.
