Preparing for the worst

Governor Eugene Holiday, Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin and a cross section of the Emergency Operating Centre (EOC) members participated in a Disaster Law workshop this week.

The focus was on the current law and the role of each person or entity as outlined in the EOC structure. The prime minister said on Wednesday that she looks forward to the follow-up sessions as preparations continue ahead of the hurricane season starting on June 1. “The Disaster Management Organisation is working diligently to ensure that if a disaster should threaten or strike tomorrow mechanisms are in place to respond and keep you, the citizens, and guests safe and secure,” she said. She also reminded the community, “It only takes one, so we must do all that we can to be prepared as we face another hurricane season.”
