MARIGOT--The Préfecture has lifted the swimming ban from most of the popular public beaches of the French side after receiving the all-clear from health authority Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS) as of January 30, following analysis of water samples.

Bans were in place for swimming at certain beaches on October 9 and October 13, 2017, due to pollution of the water from hurricane debris, run-off from the hills and other pollutants.

Beaches that are safe for bathing are: Friar’s Bay, Grand Case, Petit Plage, Galis Bay, Anse Marcel, Grand Cayes North, Grand Cayes South, Orient Bay North, Orient Bay South, Baie de L’Embouchure Nord, Baie de L’Embouchure South, Baie Longue, Baie aux Prunes, and Baie Rouge.
