Police Force warns about funny money

PHILIPSBURG--The Police Fraud Department is investigating several reports of an unknown person or groups of persons who are trying to purchase items with the use of false or counterfeit US $100 bills or trying to have these bills exchanged into another currency.

Several of these bills have been intercepted at different businesses on the Dutch side of the island. The police sent out a warning to the entire community, in particular all businesses, that they should be very cautious when accepting the US $100 bills. If they are not sure the bill is legitimate, they should have it checked.

Anyone who encounters a false or counterfeit bill should immediately contact the police at tel. 542-2222.
