Police car crashes near Border Point

BELVEDERE--The Police Traffic Department is investigating a traffic accident involving a police vehicle that took place in the Belvedere area just before the border between the Dutch and French sides on Easter Sunday.

Police officers were chasing a red vehicle with an expired licence plate, lost control of their vehicle and ended up off the road as a result, according to reports. The police vehicle was damaged severely and could not continue driving.

The red vehicle continued on to the French side. Paramedics were also on the scene and transported the officers to the hospital to be checked. The officers suffered no internal or external injuries, but stated that they felt slight pain in their arms due to the severe impact.

This is the second vehicle damaged while officers were on duty. Just last week a drunk driver collided with a police vehicle in Middle Region.
