Police cadets conduct massive traffic controls

PHILIPSBURG--Police cadets presently in training were seen in full force on the streets of St. Maarten on Tuesday and Wednesday conducting major traffic controls as part of their police training.

Twenty-four cadets are in the basic police training programme and the controls are to ensure that motorists adhere to all rules and regulations relating to the public roads. Several tickets were given out to violators, according to police.

The public is requested to be patient and cooperate with police when stopped by these officers.

The coordination of these controls is quite complex because of the large number of officers and vehicles involved.

These controls will continue until further notice and all drivers are cautioned to make sure to have their driver’s licence and all documents for the vehicle they are operating up to date.
