PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Police Force KPSM is investigating an incident in Dutch Quarter on the Quilletor Drive, near Madrid Drive, where two suspected stolen vehicles were recovered and officers came under attack while securing the scene.

Police were dispatched after a resident reported the presence of a vehicle previously listed as stolen. On arrival, officers located a car showing clear signs of tampering. Moments later, a second suspicious vehicle was discovered nearby. Both vehicles exhibited indicators of theft and were confiscated along with several items found inside.

As a towing company began removing one of the vehicles, officers were suddenly pelted with stones thrown from multiple directions. A nearby vehicle was damaged during the assault. Patrol units were able to regain control of the situation and withdraw safely.

KPSM’s Detective Department is now conducting a full investigation into the vehicle thefts and the violent attack on responding officers.

The police force reiterates that any form of aggression, assault, or stone-throwing toward officers is a serious criminal offence. Such actions endanger law enforcement personnel as well as the public, and will be met with firm police action.

Residents who witnessed the incident or have information on those involved are urged to contact KPSM at +1 (721) 545-5555 or 911, the anonymous tip line at 9300, or submit information through the available anonymous reporting channels.
