Thousands of residents/visitors flocked to the Philipsburg, Maho, and French-side areas on Monday to watch fireworks displays and welcome the year 2019.
The Police Force said on Tuesday that the opening of the New Year was quite busy and several locations required police assistance for minor disputes. Port of St. Maarten’s annual fireworks display wowed spectators while businesses in Philipsburg were open. 
Sunset Beach Bar nightclub Refuge hosted a New Year’s party and had a fireworks display.
