Passenger van catches fire  on A.Th. Illidge Road

PHILIPSBURG--A red passenger van was completely destroyed by fire shortly after 9:30am Friday, May 31, near the junction of A.Th. Illidge Road and Middle Region. The incident prompted an immediate emergency response.

St. Maarten Police Force KPSM Central Dispatch received multiple reports about the burning vehicle and quickly deployed police patrols and the Fire Department to the scene. On arrival, responders found the van fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters acted swiftly to bring the blaze under control and successfully extinguished the fire. According to the driver, the fire broke out unexpectedly while the vehicle was in motion. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

No injuries were reported, but the van suffered total damage.

KPSM expressed appreciation to the Fire Department for its quick response and urged motorists to regularly inspect and maintain their vehicles to prevent similar incidents.
