Parliament will meet on labour, timeshare today

PHILIPSBURG--Parliament is scheduled to meet today, Wednesday, in two separate Central Committee meetings, starting at 11:00am and 2:00pm in Parliament House.

  The first meeting has on the agenda the draft initiative ordinance to revise the rules on Timeshare (Timeshare Ordinance) and the draft initiative ordinance establishing a Timeshare Authority (St. Maarten Timeshare Authority Ordinance). Member of Parliament (MP) Sarah Wescot-Williams is the initiator of both laws and will defend them before her colleague MPs.

  The second meeting is with Social Development and Labour Minister Emil Lee on the National Ordinance to amend the Civil Code and some other country regulations relating to the replacement of the seventh title A of Book 7A with a new Title 10 of Book 7 regulating requirements for employment.

    Both sessions are opened to the public and will be live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 120, Pearl Radio FM 98.1, www.pearlfmradio.com and www.sxmparliament.org.
