The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard received word on Friday that a fishing boat had been stranded on the coastal cliffs at Oostpunt.
The “Iris” with nine persons aboard suffered a broken hull and was taking on water. Due to the rough surf it was too dangerous to approach the vessel in distress by sea, so a team on land went to the location, where they helped rescue the shipwreck victims, some of whom were treated for minor injuries, and their personal belongings.
