MP Meyers says he never requested list from Rohan

PHILIPSBURG--Member of Parliament Franklin Meyers (United Democrats) has refuted statements made in court by interim Prison Director Edward Rohan.

Rohan's statement was mentioned in an article last week about the court upholding the conviction of former MP Silvio Matser for buying votes among eligible inmates of the Pointe Blanche prison while campaigning for the August 2014 parliamentary election.

Rohan, who was previously convicted for his role in the scheme, had told the Court previously that he had not only provided Matser with a list of eligible detainees, but also other candidates – Roy Marlin, Franklin Meyers, Frans Richardson and Maurice Lake.

Meyers told The Daily Herald: "I never requested a list from Rohan or anyone else in my entire political career. It is very sad and troubling that my name is once again dragged through the mud."

Meyers said he hopes his statement will at least clear the air.
