Zagersgut Road closed due to hazardous conditions

ZAGERSGUT--Zagersgut Road is closed until further notice due to severe street flooding. Motorists who do not need to be on the road are urged by the Ministry of Infrastructure VROMI not to drive.

  The heavy rainfall advisory, issued by Meteorological Department on Sunday night,

remains in place for the country until this evening. 

Motorists who must drive should do so with caution on the road network and to be aware of street flooding during heavy rain caused by  passing tropical wave. 

  Avoid motorists should avoid all flooded or flood prone areas. Those driving along hillsides should drive with caution and beware of rock-falls and possible land-slides.

  Road users are urged to avoid the following areas: Cay Hill roundabout up to Puma Road, L.B. Scot Road to Cake House and Emilio Wilson Estate/Ballfield area.

 In Dutch Quarter, there is some localised flooding.

  Contractors are checking trenches for any blockages and will clear them immediately.

   The Great Bay Beach channel that connects with the Fresh Water Pond has been opened to allow water to flow into the sea.

  The Ministry is conducting other assessments of road network in other districts. The public and will be advised further of any bottlenecks due to the heavy rainfall.
